Place of Budha Enlightenment

Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment (Pali: bodhi) under what became known as the Bodhi Tree. Since antiquity, Bodh Gaya has remained the object of pilgrimage and veneration for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Mahabodhi Temple

The Mahabodhi Temple (literally: "Great Awakening Temple"), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an ancient, but much rebuilt and restored, Buddhist temple in Bodh Gaya, marking the location where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment.[1] Bodh Gaya (in Gaya district) is about 96 km (60 mi) from Patna, Bihar state, India.

Vishnupada Mandir

Vishnupada Mandir is an ancient temple in Gaya, India. It is a Hindu temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is located along the Falgu River, marked by a footprint of Lord Vishnu known as Dharmasila, incised into a block of basalt. The Brahma mythy Brahmans were the traditional priest of the temple in the ancient time.

The Bodhi Tree also known as Bo "peepal tree", or "arasa maram" was a large and ancient sacred fig tree located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India, under which Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment or Bodhi.

Located in the northern side of the temple, the Tibetan market is a big draw for visitors who are looking for woollen clothes and other textile material. In addition to different types of textiles, a wide range of souvenirs are also available at some of the shops here

Kundan Bazaar

This tiny shop inside a guest house has gained a lot of popularity amongst visitors. Located on the main road near Embassy Hotel, it boasts of a good collection of clothing, gifts and books. While the prices are not that high, you can bargain if you find that some of the articles are inappropriately priced.

Mahabodhi Temple Complex Bookstore

This bookshop is located inside the Mahabodhi temple, close to the entrance. While you are here, you can take a piece of Bodh Gaya back home as you buy books on subjects like Buddhism, Buddhist culture and the Mahabodhi temple. Enrich your spiritual quotient by studying various books on Buddhism. The books are reasonably priced at this bookstore.
