Children’s Forest Program (CFP)
One of the flag projects of OISCA is Children’s Forest Program (CFP). CFP is an experiential environment learning program. CFP is a unique tree planting campaign utilizing school systems and featuring children as the main actor. Through this program the children are educated on the importance of forest and love of greenery, and eventually this circle of activity will be expanded from school level to community.
CFP is a long term program, in which children not only plant trees but also take care of them over a long period. CFP participants learn about complex interaction in nature through experience, while gaining a sense of pride and accomplishment in making positive contributions to their communities.
The Ultimate Goal of CFP is Action. Action to improve the Environment, prevent it’s degradation and sustain it’s well being. For children, Action itself becomes a powerful way of learning about the environment because it helps children to realize that their Action can make a difference and foster a sense of responsibility for their immediate action.
Involvement of children in practical experiences in real life situations offer them an opportunity to learn in, from and through the environment.
